Doggie Days

It's a beautiful Saturday in Bavaria… the Hubs and I decided we should get outside today and enjoy the weather! We thought about taking a hike with our pup Lucy, but then we saw a flyer on post for a Pet Show.

Sure, why not?

So off we went! We've entered Lucy in fun contests before, like swimming races, when we were stationed at Fort Bliss.

Lucy takes 1st place in the
doggie paddle swim race!

It's always a good time. You get to meet other pet owners, hang out, and let the puppies play. Today, our PX had a contest for smartest and cutest pets. Keep an eye out for these events at your base. This particular contest was announced on the radio, on the garrison Facebook page, and there were fliers posted around base. Kinda hard to miss.

Lucy takes 1st place in the smartest dog category!!

Lots of people came with their pets, both cats and dogs alike. They were all so completely cute, and way smart! Everyone performed their tricks, and showcased their obedience. There was cake and coffee to be had, and great conversation. We were so excited for Lucy to win first place in the Smartest Dog category! I feel like a proud mama today.

I'll add her certificate to her trophies, and keep the gift card for myself, ha.

Just kidding, just kidding!! We'll be using our gift card for some new dog toys and treats. Lucy is super excited about it, can't you tell?

Relaxing after the win…
So, how are you spending your Saturday? I hope it' beautiful and you're having fun. Until next time, my friends!

Snow Day!!

After complaining yesterday about the minuscule amount of snow, today I woke up to this…

Official snow day!! I guess my dance worked, ha. So instead of scratching items off my to-do list, I played out in the snow with my dog.

This is my dog, Lucy:

And THIS is my dog on snow:

She's such a wackadoodle, I love her.

We did this for more than hour, playing fetch and chase. Seriously, the best part of my whole day. Pets bring such joy into our lives. Lucy is perfectly content just to be with her people, and run around in the snow. So I followed her lead, ran around in the snow, then came inside to eat lunch and take a long cat nap… uhhhh, dog nap.

I hope you had a great Sunday as well! Check back in tomorrow for a new Pinterest tested post, One Pot Pasta. TTYL!

The Conquering of Cardiac Hill

One of the many activities the Hubs and I enjoy together is (drum roll please…) hiking. The weather in El Paso allows for hiking nearly year round, although the summer months can be quite challenging.  On a good weekend, we wake up early and load our packs full of… stuff. While the Hubs’ pack would include such items as water, food, and first aid supplies, mine mostly consists of camera equipment and dog biscuits. I am ever prepared!

Thank goodness I hike with those more competent than myself. Otherwise I’d wind up lost in the wild, with no human food or water. But, I’d have some magnificent photos.

Sadly, the Hubs and I have not been able to participate in our favored weekend activity for some time, due to our own medical issues. Two months with no hiking? Inconceivable! (Quick, name that movie!) Something must be done to correct this abnormality immediately. The Hubs isn’t cleared yet for serious hiking, and I am obviously incapable of doing so alone. Really, who needs food? Or water? Or first aid supplies? Not I!

........ if you want to see how I survived this latest adventure, read the rest of the post at 1,000 Miles On My Own Two Feet. I'm guest blogging this week for my good friend, Abby. This hike was a great adventure, I hope you love it as much as we did!
